Penitentiary mittimus issued for Edward Capehart O'Kelley after the verdict of guilty in the case of The People of the State of Colorado vs Edward Capehart O'Kelley for the murder of Robert Ford on June 8th, 1892 in Creede, Colorado. Robert Ford was a known outlaw and saloon owner who killed famed outlaw Jesse James on April 3rd, 1882. The mittimus orders that O'Kelley be taken to the Hinsdale County jail and then to the state Penitentiary in Canon City, Colorado for the rest of his natural life.

In 2022, History Colorado was awarded a 3-year grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) to fund work on the Fred M. Mazzulla Collection.
