This dress belonged to Mary Adams, a descendent of John Quincy Adams, and the great-aunt of donor Elizabeth Titus Fisher.
Elizabeth Titus Fisher was the daughter of Florence Grey Johnson Titus (1878-1960) whose own father came to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1884 and operated the Antlers Hotel. He was also prominent in railroading in the Cripple Creek area. Mrs. Verner Z. Reed (1875 - 1945) was a prominent Denver socialite and philanthropist known as "Lady Bountiful" (Denver Post, May 1952), for her many generous donations. Titus and Reed were sisters.
