Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States membership card of Oscar Meyer
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States membership card of Oscar Meyer for the 1937 calendar year. The card consists of white card stock with perforated edges. Card has printed dark blue and red ink on front and back sides; there is blue handwritten inscriptions on front. The Post Quartermaster, L.C. Whitechy, signed the card on lower right quadrant. Meyer was assigned member number 77 and paid his membership dues on September 9, 1936 for Post No. 101 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The card was printed by Allied Printing Union Label, Trades Council, in Kansas City. Card possibly carried in wallet; shows signs of use wear and left edge is folded under.
This collection was reassembled based on History Colorado Curatorial Department research of legacy collections. It was decided to combine the ephemera/subject files about Oscar and Olivia Meyer, as well as the books, with the existing manuscript collection (originally only the autograph book.) We suspect these materials came to the collection together after Oscar's death in 1937.
