Beacon Pass ; Abbey Avalanche 1st Annual Music Festival laminated pass on a lanyard
First Annual Abbey Avalanche Music Festival pass from 2010. The pass is a laminated, rectangular card attached to a silver metal clip and black nylon lanyard. The festival line-up and images of bands and musical instruments are printed on front. The verso is white with black text and logos for the General Palmer Hotel and The Palace Restaurant.
This pass is from the Abbey Theatre in Durango, Colorado. The theater is still in existence as of November 2019 under the name Animas City Theatre. The theater has been Durango’s single-screen, independent cinema serving up alternative entertainment—primarily off-beat niche films—since 1997 (as the Abbey Theatre). Originally, the venue was a dinner theater and after that a pool hall. After opening the theater, the Abbey became a hub for community engagement. The owners began adding more concerts and other community events to the schedule. When the Abbey changed ownership in 2013, the new owners continued and expanded on the precedent but opened as a digital movie theater.
