Wedding Dress Bodice Belonging to Matilda Joel Salomon from 1871
Light and dark purple silk bodice. Bodice has pleating decoration at the neck and down the front. It has light purple buttons down the front and a dark purple tassal at the back. Written very lightly on the front, button side (on interior, at top) is "Salomon". Piece is very fragile and the silk is shattering.
The donor is presumably the granddaughter of A.Z. Salomon and wife, Miss Amy Salomon – author of Fools Rush In. Family (Salomon) is most likely the first Jewish family that moved to Denver. Adolph (A.Z.) became 1st Jewish elected official in CO.
