This is a beaded fob, originally used as an ornament attached to a pocket watch. This fob consists of a green, orange, yellow, and black star design on a white beaded background with red, white, yellow, and green beaded fringe. The beadwork is loomed.
The Joseph O. Smith Collection (E.1323 - E.1393) was purchased from Mr. Utt with money collected by the SHS of Colorado by subscription. Mr. Joseph Smith was an employee of the Southern Ute Agency as early as 1895 and was an Indian agent from 1900-1905. Utt is the grand-nephew of Joseph O. Smith.
