Almanacs used for textbooks in early school in Logan County
General Note: Part of the CWA Pioneer Interviews Collection. Consists of a brief essay describing the experiences of W.C. "Cathey" Propst, an early-day school teacher in Logan County, Colorado. Propst arrived in Logan County from Alabama in 1875. Setting up school in the home of a local resident, Erasmus Nelson, Propst taught more than 15 students in 1875, including adults such as Christina Nelson, the wife of Erasmus Nelson, who was a recent immigrant from Denmark and wished to learn how to speak English fluently. Also among those first students were: Charles, Mont, and Bill Fitch Antone Nelson Charles Meggs and Cenia Hansen.
