Kit Carson's last camp site ; Colorado Mountain and History slides
This slide shows a memorial tablet for Kit Carson. The tablet reads "This tablet marks the spot where Kit Carson accompanied by his friend Maj. D. C. Oakes built his last camp fire, May 1863. Erected 1923 by the territorial daughters of Colorado." There is a grassy field with trees and a wire fence behind the monument.
Donated by Cherry Moore in 2014. The photographs were taken by her father, Charles Moore. He was born and raised on a ranch in Eldorado Springs in 1913. He was an avid camper and mountaineer and had hiked half of Colorado's 14'ers. He joined the hiking club during his time at CU (graduated in 1934). Most of the slides are photograph dating between 1930 and 1990. Charles Moore passed away in 1994.
Written on the back of the slide in ink: "Kit Carsons last camp site Daniels Pass / 7-72"
