Bisque Shoulder Head Doll - International Doll
Six inch international doll with a bisque shoulder head plate and limbs, and a sawdust stuffed cloth body. The dirty blond hair is mohair. The face is painted with blue eyes, brown eyebrows, rosy cheeks, red lips and a closed mouth. The lower legs end in ankle high painted black shoes with heels. The doll is clothed in Italian folk costume. Her dress is light brown with green trim and a strip of applique embroidery above the hem. Her undergarments consist of white cotton bloomers and a petticoat; both trimmed in lace. She wears a white lace hat adorned with a green ribbon bow on the head. The hand stitched dress is a contemporary addition.
This doll came to History Colorado in 1988 as part of the Bernice Lang doll collection. The doll was collected by either Bernice Lang, Wilmette (Minnie) Belle Jackson (Bernice's mother), or Lindy Lou Lang, Bernice's sister or mother-in-law as an addition to their doll collection. The doll is not thought to have been used by any of the three ladies as children. No further provenance is recorded in any records obtained by History Colorado.
