Composition Swivel-head Sleep-eye Doll Body
Jointed composition swivel-head doll has its five component parts strung with a heavy elastic cord. Molded composition head has brown sleep eyes with lashes, painted brown brows, and open mouth with four teeth, and a brown human hair wig. Molded composition arms are slightly bent, legs are straight. Doll wears a pink organdy dress with ruffled collar trimmed with a narrow band of braid. A white cotton full slip has underwear attached at the waist. A pink organdy bonnet has a folded brim trimmed with matching white braid, and two satin ribbon ties. Shoes are white imitation leather with silver buckles at the instep and ankle straps that fasten with a snap.
This doll and associated parts came to History Colorado in 1988 as part of the Bernice Lang doll collection. The doll was collected by either Bernice Lang, Wilmette (Minnie) Belle Jackson (Bernice's mother), or Lindy Lou Lang, Bernice's sister or mother-in-law as an addition to their doll collection. The doll is not thought to have been used by any of the three ladies as children. No further provenance is recorded in any records obtained by History Colorado.
