This guidon replicates the modified regulation cavalry pattern that had been adopted in January 1862. It has a 35-star blue canton with an inner ring of 12 off-white five-pointed stars surrounded by concentric ring of 19 matching stars with four matching corner stars. The stars appear to be silk-screened. The fly is comprised of 13 red and white stripes. The fly has a sewn sleeve hoist made from the wrapped ends of the canton and fly.
