Trunk was used for traveling on a ship. Trunk is locked and no key available. Top left side has large heavy leather handle. on this same side is a triangle metal label stamped with maker name and seial number. Top right side are stickers, some torn, top one can be made out. Outside is metal with rivited metal bands on all sides. Metal parts on all four sides from top to bottom, these too are rivited in place. All brass corner pieces, hinges and other fixtures are in place. Front at top has a metal plate with name of manufacturer on it. The brass lock made by The Yale & Towne Mfg. Three large brass hinges on back of trunk. One side has two hinges that would indicate half of the top would fold back. Castors on bottom which pushes trunk easily. Picture from the internet shows a Mendel Trunk open, displaying items inside the trunk. Though not exactly like this trunk on the outside, the same features might be here too.
