(1833-1904) Benjamin H. Eaton was born in Ohio. Married Delilah Wolf in 1856. She died in 1857 after giving birth to a son, Aaron. Benjamin came to Colorado in 1858 as a prospector, and after serving in the Civil War in New Mexico, he married Rebecca J. Hill in 1864 and they returned to Colorado, setting up a farm near Ft. Collins. One of the founders of Greeley in 1870. Member of the Executive Committee of the Colorado Woman Suffrage Association in 1877. Governor of Colorado (Republican) from 1885-1887. Owned large tracts of land in Weld and Larimer Counties and was a strong proponent of irrigation. The town of Eaton, Colorado is named after him. Buried in Linn Grove Cemetery, Greeley.
