This frosty-lustred silver (silvered bronze) medal is an official Vatican Anno XV (1993) medal of Pope John Paul II commemorating the new catechism of the Catholic Church. The medal is 98.6% silver. The obverse depicts Pope John Paul II high above a crowd people. He is bent over facing to his right and waving a hand over the people below him. The reverse side depicts a sitting Pope John Paul II, a family of four with a dog, and bishops. The group surrounds an open parchment on which is inscribed CATECHISMUS ECCLESIAE CATHOLICAE. A crucifix is depicted in the upper left edge of the medal.
