This demonstration sign is constructed for with a white card stock sub straight inscribed with colored felt tipped markers. The sign futures two sides of hand stylized block lettering using the colors red, black, blue, pink, yellow, green, and purple. On the gloss side of the substrate it reads “STEMinists (heart image) FACTs.” The phrase is a play on words that is promoting both the STEM Program; an educational program focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and the word “feminist” implying that female participants in these fields have a strong voice that is being ignored or rejected by the Trump administration.” The reverse side of the sign states “This MS. Has an M.S. and is tiered of this B.S.” This play on words conveys that the demonstrator identifies as a woman (Ms. Is short for miss) has a high degree of education (M.S. standing for Masters of Science) and that the demonstrator is in disagreement with President Trumps policies regarding both women and science (BS standing for bull shit). The March for Science was a nationwide demonstration that borrowed a lot of momentum from the earlier Women’s March. I was organized as a response to the Donald Trump’s open disregarded for scientific evidence supporting climate change, a gag order on federal scientific research (including NASA the National Forestry Division, EPA, National Parks, etc..) and the significant reduction in funding for scientific research, the global collaboration between scientists and the consequences of these policies on diversity in the hard sciences.
