This photograph is part of the William Robinson collection, donated to History Colorado in 2020. It was likely owned and kept initially by the Robinson family, who lived in Denver at least into the 1940s. William Robinson, a Black veteran of the Spanish American War, served in the 10th Cavalry Regiment, Troop E, which was stationed in Wyoming in the early 1900s. He married his wife, Cora, sometime during his service. They moved to Denver after William was discharged in 1904. The collection was later purchased by the donor at an antique market in the 1960s.
