This basket is a wedding basket made by Utes for Navajo, for Utes and sometimes for the tourist trade. The basket is made from coiled willow with a two rod foundation. The design of the basket is the Spirit Trail, with opposing triangles in a series of eleven solid triangles in the bottom row and a series of twenty-two solid triangles in the top row separated by a solid band. The base is undyed. The triangles are black natural dye. The band is brown. The colors are beginning to fade. A small bit of cloth is pushed through the center base that was used for hanging. Some of the coils are exposed both inside and out.
