Since the mainstream press ignored or marginalized the Chicano Movement, Chicano newspapers sprang up around the state. Some of the earliest examples of Chicano art were created for newsletters, protest banners, posters, buttons, bumper stickers, and t-shirts to support demonstrators and disseminate information throughout the state.
Small, eight-page newspaper titled, El Malcriado, La Voz del Campesino (the Voice of the Farmworker), No. 33, from April 10, 1966. The newspaper contains information and descritiption about the Delano Grape Strike and march from Delano, California to Sacramento, California, a list of names and photos of participants, and lyrics to a song.
