General Note: Part of the CWA Pioneer Interviews Collection. Title supplied by cataloger. Consists of biographical material and a newspaper obituary of Frank E. Sheridan, an early-day resident of Rio Blanco County, Colorado. Born in Canada in 1858, Sheridan came to Colorado in 1880, working in both mining and milling in Gunnison County. In 1883 he moved to the region that later became Rio Blanco County, where he established a lumber business. He appears to have established the first sawmill in the county. In the 1890s he served as the postmaster for the town of Meeker, and later was appointed both sheriff and county commissioner. In 1896 he was elected to the Colorado State Legislature, serving for a single term. The original obituary is badly faded and difficult to read, and the PDF of the obituary is virtually impossible to read.
