The content of this donation was given to the donor by Margaret Johnson Simpson in 1995 where the two volunteered at the Elizabeth Guild Thrift Shop in Estes Park, Colorado. The materials are from a chain letter game that Margaret and her mother, Iva May Johnson, did in 1935. Living in the small plains town of Fleming, there was little entertainment other than the radio. So women would swap quilt pieces with their friends and relatives in this fashion. Each lady made and sent out pieces with their friends and relatives in this fashion. Each lady made and sent out several pieces of an agreed upon pattern and hopefully received enough in return to make a quilt top. Margaret married F.R. Simpson, an over-the-road truck driver and had two sons. During her professional career she was employed as a medical records clerk at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Aurora, Colorado.
