Collection consists of a register of participants of Colorado men in the armed forces who celebrated "Colorado Day on Guam" on August 5, 1945, as well as a speech and photocopies of letters between William L. Winter and family in Denver. The "Colorado Day on Guam" was an event organized by Teller Ammons, a governor of Colorado, for men in the U.S. armed forces stationed on the island of Guam during WW II to celebrate Colorado Day. The newspaper the Denver Post learned of the event from Cpl. William L. Winter. Another Denver resident, Capt. John C. Watson, while on leave delivered the register to the Denver Post in October of 1945.
