This patch is one of seventeen that were found among the personal effects of Laura Evans, a brothel madam who ran her business in Salida, Colorado from 1896-1950. It is suspected that the patches represent clients or friends of Ms. Evans. Many of the children in Salida grew up knowing Ms. Evans, and were later enlisted into World War II. They kept contact with her through letters and personal images found in her scrapbooks and manuscript materials. The objects are among other of Evans' belongings that were collected by Fred Mazzulla circa 1941-1953.
