Two 3-D printed empty testing cartridges
The two plastic, white cartridges are very similar. Both are hollow and have parallel ridges running along the tube shafts. The oval head of the cartridge is split creating a hollow center. The bottom face of the head of the cartridges have a cross-hatch pattern stamped into the plastic. The top face of the heads have a rectangular cutout at top center.
The changing iterations of the testing cartridges show how Gitanjali Rao worked through the design cycle and how she continued to better understand the science around carbon nanotube technology.
Gitanjali Rao is a resident of Lone Tree, Colorado and at the age of 11 won the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist award in 2017. Inspired by the Flint, Michigan water crisis, Gitanjali created Tethys, a water-testing device that is portable and can quickly and cheaply provides users whether or not there is a dangerous presence.
