Continental Fuel Company was a subsidiary of the Colorado and Southern Railway Company, the Continental Fuel Company owned and operated the Majestic Coal Mine in Las Animas County, Colorado, as well as mines in Boulder County, Colorado. It produced high-grade metallurgical coal in Las Animas County,
Colorado, from 1904-1909. The corporation acquired the property from the Southern Coal Co., which had opened the mine in 1900. The mine was sold to the National Fuel Co. in 1910, and later to the Rocky Mountain Fuel Co. in 1914. Production, except for a small amount taken out by a leasee, ended in 1914. the Continental Fuel Co. also acquired by lease the so-called "Jones Property" adjacent to the Industrial and Pluto mines at Superior, Boulder County, Colorado. The leaser was Rosalie W. Jones.
