Two metal plates joined by large ball-like hinge. One plate design is like snow flakes in squares, other plate has same design except it is in diamond shapes. When batter was poured in, handle closed the top and bottom of the pizzell would have a different design baked in. Long steel handles are soldered into the plates. Iron would be placed over an open flame on the stove, in a few minutes it would be flipped to cook on the other side. One end of handle has a hole through which owner attached and bent an S hook to hold the handle closed without squeezing with hands.
