General Note: Part of the CWA Pioneer Interviews Collection. Title supplied by cataloger. Consists of a brief biographical sketch of Amos Rutledge, a notorious thief and criminal who operated in early-day Otero County, Colorado. Known in the region by his nickname of "Peg Leg", Rutledge grew up in Texas as the son of a Methodist minister. As young man he lost a leg to a gunshot sustained during a robbery. He later operated with a small group of horse thieves near the town of La Junta, Colorado. Most of this document consists of an account written by Leah Ryder of the CWA describing a few of his escapades as a horse thief during the 1880s.
