This object is the remaining bottom third of a white plaster corbel. Corbels can be used to finish off the underside of archways, to use as stand alone features in a room, shelf supports or the underside of a plain beam. How this one was used or intended for use is not known. It was, however, found under a concrete slab in the Colorado State Capitol building during restoration construction in 2004. The corbel is molded from a scroll and floral pattern design.
