This twenty-five caliber rifle is the first rifle manufactured in Denver. It was made by Carlos Gove and presented by Gove to Captain Jack Howland (John Dare Howland). This was a rare style of rifle for this area. The gun has a walnut half stock, checkered wrist and forend and full patent hook breech with gold bands. The barrel is an eighteen and three-eigths full octagonal. Adjustable rear buckhorn sight; iron blade front sight.
