Bottom layer has an overall geometric design of curvilinear blue lines and surrounding dots on a ground of green or yellowish-brown acorn (?) leaves. When layed side by side with 97.166.51 - 55, the overall pattrern can be seen. This pattern is probably either the original wallpaper from 1899 or a paper used to line to top wallpaper. The top layer is the 1926 striped paper that was removed with chemicals, fading the original colors and wrinkling the surface. The striped wallpaper was reproduced in 1985 by Scalamandre in New York. A section of the original paper still exists on the wouth hall wall between the southwest bedroom (Henry McAllister's bedroom) and the south room (Phebe's sitting room).
