This bandana is manufactured from cotton fabric. It is multicolored including light and dark orange, black, white, purple and gray. Designs are stamped all over. They include images of a snake, bird and other animals and geometric designs. The bandana may be used by Matachines dancers in two ways. It can be folded in a triangle, then tied around the mouth to hide the identity of the dancers while in character. It is tied in the back of the head to hold down the ribbons (listones) of the cupiles (headpieces). In other instances, it is folded and tied to the left arm just above the elbow of dancers or el Monarca.
