ES 8 16 2017: Very heavy carbine with chestnut-colored wood stock and dark gunmetal-colored barrel, trigger, lock, etc. Cross-hatching on frizzen.
This carbine is a single-shot breechloader chambered for .40 caliber percussion. Round barrel with octagonal breech section is 26 inches long. There is a mounting surface for a front barrel sight, but none is mounted. The rear barrel sight is a notch style that appears to be missing a flip component. The trigger guard is a lever that pivots the barrel in break-open fashion when it is lowered. The buttstock is walnut with a steel buttplate. There is no foreend stock. This is a sporting model Maynard. The barrel length and the barrel sight are not consistent with the military models.
