The body of this oil lamp is made of sheet metal or tin. The front and side panels are glass sheets protected by a wire cage. There is an oil resevoir and a burner incorporated into the base of the unit within the housing. A wire handle attaches to the ventilation chimney at the top of the lantern.
Stenciled in black paint on front hood surface: "C.T. HAM | MFG. Co' s | New No 7 | TUBULAR | S(unreadable) Lamp". Stenciled in black paint on both sides of the hood surface: "BRIDGE SIGNAL". Stenciled in black paint on the back side of the hood surface: "LABEL | REGISTERED | 1886". Stamped into the metal surface at the top of the lamp on the chimney: "PATENTED | FEB. 28, (unreadable) | C.T.HAM MFG
