Shirley Temple Character Doll 22
Original twenty-two inch Shirley Temple character doll in original doll dress, white shoes and sock. Blonde sausage curled wig and blue weighted eyes. Composition head and strung composition body. Shirley Temple button attached to the right side of her collar. Unassociated plastic finger ring featuring a photograph of Shirley Temple is attached to the doll's neck with a string.
Based on the time period this doll was manufactured and sold on the market, it is believed it was not a personal childhood doll of Bernice Jackson Lang (1897-1988), her mother Wilmette (Minnie) Belle Jackson (1859-1950), or Lindy Lou Lang, Bernice's aunt or sister-in-law. These are the three people who collected the dolls HC accessioned as the 88.410 Lang Doll Collection. It is believed that this doll, as well as all of the Shirley Temple dolls associated with the Lang collection were "collected" (as opposed to used by) by any one, or a combination, of the three women as additions to their doll collection.
