The Writers Program was a federal program that hired authors to document life in Colorado in the 1930s and 40s. This books, completed in 1940, contains information about the social organizations, clubs, and groups across the state of Colorado. Most entries are lists with little information about the organization included. Some include address, date of meetings, and president or other officers of the organization. The authors also create essays and editorials, document their field notes, and interview members. The cities explicitly listed in the books include Alamosa, Denver, Colorado Springs, Grand Junction, Gunnison, and Pueblo. Within these cities, the authors look at social organizations such as service clubs, American World War Veterans, State Associations, the Masonic Order, Lions Clubs, Women's Clubs, and the Boy Scouts.
