Born in Denver, Colorado in 1889, Carr graduated from the University of Colorado in 1913. She then taught school in Meeker, Colorado, until 1915 when she took a teaching post at the Episcopal parochial school in Salt Lake City. After World War II, Carr moved to Brighton, Colorado, where she worked as a school librarian until 1956, when she became a social worker for the Adams County Department of Human Services. Carr died in Fort Collins, Colorado in 1990 at the age of 101.
