Illustrated in this postcard is the baptism of a baby. Going from the left to the right: A man dressed in dark nickers, long coat, white knee socks, black shoes, white gloves, is holding a long candle in this right hand and holding in this left arm is a long rod type of instrument much as majordomo's use. The baptism font shows the priest in this long black gown and white top is leaning over the baby pouring the water over its head. Baby is laying on a flat surface, probably the godmother in her black outfit ahs a close fitting white cap on her head, she is holding the baby's garment down, the mother is across from the priest dressed in a long skirt and hooded cape, upon her head is a white mob cap. To her right is probably the father, in a suit, bow tie, holding his hat behind him. The godfather stands to the left of the gotmother, he too wears a suit and tie, dark hair parted in the middle and a mustache. A curtained window is in the background, to the left of the window is a type of cabinet possibly holding the items necessary for baptism. A large white pillar to the left of the "steward" could be the entrance to the baptism room.
