American Beauty Cook Book, 6th edition, 1922. Issued by The American Beauty Macaroni Company, Denver (formerly the Denver Macaroni and Noodle Company). This booklet/cookbook has 48 pages. Included are tested recipes using macaroni, spaghetti, and vermicelli in a variety of appetizing ways. The booklet promotes macaroni as having superior food value which can be a substitute for meat. It features the adventures of sister and brother, Nettie and Toodles, as they set out on a path of "Health, Strength and Beauty" on which they dine on macaroni products to grow into "strong and healthy men and women." The booklet alternates pages between recipes and the adventures of Nettie and Toodles. Title page dates the book 1922 with content complied by A. S. Vagnino (Vagnino, Anthony "Tony" Salvatore, 1890-1978) manager of the company in 1922.
This cookbook is a great example of the marketing and merchandising of the Vagnino family that founded and operated the company for many years. This giveaway was for parents and children. The book continues to advertise American Beauty in the present.
