Book titled, The Art of the Book: A Review of Some Recent European and American Work in Typography, Page Decoration and Binding by Charles Holme (1848-1923). The book contains examples of decorative bookbinding, printing and page design implemented in England, Germany, France, Austria, Hungary, Sweden and America at various time periods. There are many facsimiles, illustrations and photographs of well known samples included in the text. The hardcover book has a light brown cloth cover with brown leather at corners and spine. There is gold text and ornamentation on exterior spine. Black text, black and white photographs and color illustrations are printed on white paper pages. Published by The Studio, Ltd. in 1914.

Newdigate; "Fine Bookbinding in England," by Douglas Cockerell; "The Art of the Book in Germany," by L. Deubner; "The Art of the Book in France," by E. A. Levetus; "The Art of the Book in Hungary," by unknown author; "The Art of the Book in Sweden," by August Brunius; "The Art of the Book in America," by William Dana Orcutt.
Donated as part of the original Boettcher collection donated by Edna Boettcher in 1960. On exhibit/in use at Governor's residence since 1960.
