The necklace is made of 57 landsnails (Oreohelix strigosa depressa), each pierced through the spiral, or with the top of the spire cut or ground off and a hole for stringing broken through the remaining central structure. The shells are local. They are thin-walled and fragile. The necklace was restrung in contemporary times. (Osborne 2004:186)
