This item is one of five paddles with kayak. This is a model kayak, umiak, and functional attachments. Kayak frame is made of red-colored wood that has been lashed and pegged together, fore and aft have a distinctive shape with negative space used as handles when craft is being carried. The skin cover is stretched tightly around the frame and over the cockpit rim. Covering is stiched longitudinally along the deck and edge of fore and aft ends of kayak. Two straps attached across in front of cockpit and one behind. The straps in front each have 2 carved bone components that form the harpoon rack. Rack holds a single loaded paddle and harpoon on the left and a double-bladed paddle and a harpoon with the disal end missing - barbed bone dart is still attached by sinew or rope - on the right. Left harpoon distal is carved to resemble an animal head - previously suggested to be a wolf. Barbed dart and bone finger rest are attached to wooden shaft by sinew. Paddle blades and handles are painted red.
