Jeanette Trujillo-Lucero, a Denver native began dancing at the age of four. She began instructing dance in the early 1970s in southwest Denver, Jeanette’s career is heavily influenced by her heritage with strong roots in the Spanish and Mexican dance traditions, but is also a musical theater choreographer. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Fiesta Colorado Inc., established in 1972, and the Ballet Folkorico de Colorado. Jeanette owned and directed the Danzantes Dance Studio for over 25 years. Her diverse background is in Mexican folklorico, classical Spanish dance, Flamenco, jazz, tap, and ballet. Her collaborations include work with the Colorado Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, International Mariachi Festival, and the Fiestas de Santa Fe, among many others. She has been the choreographer for the Colorado Children’s Chorale, Arvada Center, Denver Public High Schools, and Up with the People. Jeanette is the recipient of the Governor’s Award and the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts in 1997 and 2006.
