Burlington Route Trainman's Uniform Vest
This trainman's uniform vest was manufactured by A.G. Meier & Company, 205 W. Monroe Street, Chicago, Illinois. It was made for W.D. Sines, a trainman for the Burlington Route of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. The dark blue vest is made from wool and a black synthetic blend fabric. It has an off-white cotton lining. There is a left breast welt pocket, two outside ticket pockets, two outside patch pockets, and a right inner breast pocket. The buttons are nickel finished.
Dale Heckendorn was a former employee at History Colorado. He died unexpectedly in 2008. His wife, Lynda, donated this uniform, which Dale had purchased at an unidentified antique store, to the museum. The antique store was thought to be in Colorado. Although the hat was originally manufactured by a different company than the rest of the uniform, they were all hanging together at the antique shop where Mr. Heckendorn purchased them. In addtion to the uniform, Mr. Heckendorn purchased a Burlington Route schedule at the same store at the same time. The schedule was also donated to the museum.
