Summary: The Biographical Files are part of a larger collection of material, The Colorado Subject Collection. This collection is comprised of biographical files, geographical files, and subject files. The biographical files contain information on numerous individuals, either residents of Colorado or important figures in Colorado history. The type of material found in these files includes but is not limited to: birth certificates, marriage certificates, deeds, correspondence, certificates of military service, biographical sketches, newspaper clippings, obituaries, and genealogical information. The files are arranged alphabetically by last name.
Collection consists of surveys of mining claims, mill sites, records of land sales, engineering studies on mines and mining districts in both Boulder and Gilpin County, Colorado and other material related to mining engineer Frank G. Armstrong.
Collection consists of correspondence, clippings, ephemera, photographs, and other material related to Fred Mazzulla, a Colorado lawyer and historian who amassed more 250,000 photographic images of the American West. The bulk of Mazzulla's photo collection was donated both to the Amon Carter Museum and the Colorado Historical Society. This collection contains material culled by the staff of the Amon Carter Museum during the processing of the Mazzulla photographic collection and donated to the Colorado Historical Society.
Article discusses the cabin of John McBroom, a soldier, scout and pioneer in Jefferson County, Colorado. The cabin was originally built near Bear Creek in Jefferson County, Colorado, and moved ca. 1926 to a site on Turkey Creek in the San Juan Region of Colorado. It is not known if the cabin is still intact today.
