Collection consists of correspondence, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings and other material related to Mamie Doud Eisenhower. Born in 1896 in Iowa, Mamie Doud Eisenhower came to Denver with her family in 1906. In 1916 she married Dwight D. Eisenhower, a career soldier who rose through the ranks and became commander of the Anglo-American armies in World War II. Riding a wave of popularity after the war, Eisenhower became president of the United States in 1952, and he and Mamie frequently took vacations in Colorado during his two terms as president. Mamie Doud Eisenhower died in 1979. Titles include: "Happy home chats." See also: MSS #2174.
