Basket bottom are four 9" X 1/8" pieces of wood held with nails to three 38X3/4" strips of wood. Additional strips are joined by bolts to bottom strips, making the outside shape. Spines of basket are the same oak pieces as woven pieces. Three rows of thick reeds begin the bottom, with the split oak strips the rest of the way. Weaving is in front and behind these spines. Top outside and inside are molded pieces of wood nailed around. Sandwiched between these two pieces being the spines which are nailed for further stability. Rectangular hole on each side for carrying.
