Collection consists of correspondence, orders, diaries, transcripts, reports, rosters, sketches, catalogs, and other materials related to the Civil War. Most of the collection has a connection to the Territory of Colorado--the originators of many of the documents either came from Colorado or moved to there after the conflict had ended. The bulk of the military records are commissions, muster rolls, discharge papers, announcements of promotion, court martial transcripts, and passes, and range in date from 1862-1865
the bulk of the correspondence dates from 1861-1865, although a small number of letters date around 1900. Reminscences are mostly hand-written, and date from 1864-1925.
