The Black Diamond HoodWire Quickdraw used by Tommy Caldwell. The quickdraw consists of a silver carabiner on top and an orange carabiner on bottom, both feature wiregate clips. The top silver carabiner has black paint on front and back, covering Black Diamond logo and carabiner measurements. The carabiners are clipped into a brown, grey, and tan strap, known as a Dynex Dogbone. The inside of the bottom strap loop has a black rubber lining.
Tommy Caldwell was born in Colorado in 1978 and is best known for completing the first "free" (meaning no rope assist) rock climb of the Dawn Wall of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park in California. Caldwell is an advocate for protecting the environment and is an active member of the non-profit group Protect Our Winters, a group that seeks to combat climate change.
