Collection consists of two letters about the outlaw Billy the Kid (real name: Henry McCarty, Jr.), one of which was composed by a funeral parlor operator in Trinidad, Colorado. During a short but violent crime spree between 1878-1881, McCarty was involved in the infamous "Lincoln County War" in New Mexico, where he committed a number of murders and robberies and became internationally famous for his violent exploits.
