Mamie Geneva Doud was born in Boone, Iowa in 1896. She came to Denver with her parents in 1906. The John and Elivera Doud family resided at 750 Lafayette Street.
In 1916, she married Second Lieutenant Dwight D. Eisenhower, a career soldier who rose through the ranks and became commander of the Anglo-American armies in World War II. Riding a wave of popularity after the war, Eisenhower became president of the United States in 1952. He and Mamie frequently took vacations in Colorado during his two terms as president.
Mamie Doud Eisenhower died on November 1, 1979.
