The May Queen Leasing and Mining Company incorporated on June 6, 1898, the company leased a number of holdings in Eagle County, Colorado. Among the first presidents of the company was Walter S. Cheesman, a prominent citizen of 19th century Denver. John W. Nesmith was president from 1898 to 1900 and other stockholders were Walter P. Miller, W.W. Watson, W.W. Huntington, Walter s. Cheesman, Thomas Dickson, John A Doddridge. Cheesman became president in 1900 after Nesmith and Doddridge disposed of their holdings in the enterprise. The company leased
properties from the Ground Hog Tunnel and Mining Company. The collection contains 3 volumes; a minute book (1898- 1900); stock register (1898-1904) and stock certificate book (1898-1904).
